Refusing and reducing plastics in our lives should be our first priority, but plastics are not always easy to avoid. Certain plastics can be recycled and those items should be placed in our green recycling carts, not in the trash. These include most plastic containers  used in the kitchen, laundry, and bathroom areas in our homes. Head to the Newton Free Library in June to get a refresher on what can and cannot be placed in the green cart, and get tips on getting more plastic out of your life. Check it out, tell us what you think, and tell your neighbors!

Use the City of Newton’s free app, Recycle Right Newton, to help you learn what can be recycled and keep track of your trash day. The app can be used on the city website or download it to your smart phone (Apple or Android).
