Did you know Massachusetts is currently experiencing a drought? The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) reports that approximately 90% of Massachusetts is now experiencing some level of drought, due to insufficient rain in our region. The Central and Connecticut River Valley regions have jumped up to Level 2 Significant Drought, and the Berkshires are in Level 1 Mild Drought.
Here are some ways you can conserve water and help drought-affected communities.
- Limit lawn watering.
- Use high efficiency plumbing products and appliances.
- Collect and reuse household water to water plants.
- Sweep driveways and walkways by sweeping instead of hosing them down.
- Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth or shaving.
- Fix leaks.
