Did you know Massachusetts is currently experiencing a drought? The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) reports that approximately 90% of Massachusetts is now experiencing some level of drought, due to insufficient rain in our region. The Central and Connecticut River Valley regions have jumped up to Level 2 Significant Drought, and the Berkshires are in Level 1 Mild Drought.

Here are some ways you can conserve water and help drought-affected communities.

  1. Limit lawn watering.
  2. Use high efficiency plumbing products and appliances.
  3. Collect and reuse household water to water plants.
  4. Sweep driveways and walkways by sweeping instead of hosing them down.
  5. Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth or shaving.
  6. Fix leaks.
