Got older CDs and DVDs that no longer suit your streaming lifestyle? Here are organizations that will find new homes for those shiny disks during the COVID pandemic. Remember, the discs or their cases should not be placed in Newton’s green recycling cart.
- More Than Words, a nonprofit serving disadvantaged youth, accepts gently used commercial CDs and DVDs in their original cases. They also accept books and clothing. They have drop boxes in the parking lot of Trader Joe’s in West Newton and at the Newton Resource Recovery Center on Rumford Ave. They can also provide a contactless pick up from your home. Be sure to check out the terrific secondhand goods for sale on their online store.
- The Decluttr App will offer you a nominal amount of money for DVDs and CDs, and send you a free shipping label.
- Savers, a second hand retailer, will take donations of CDs and DVDs. You can ask for a tax deduction slip at drop off. They have locations in West Roxbury, Norwood, and Framingham.
