Saturday, November 5 from 1-4pm. Newton City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Ave.).
Sponsored by the City of Newton, residents are invited to bring their Halloween pumpkins for target practice using any number of methods, including by smashing machines made by the Newton Ligerbots. All pumpkins will be composted by the city’s curbside composting partner Black Earth Compost to help reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions while feeding the soil. Also:
- Black Earth will be on hand for residents who want to sign up for curbside composting pick up service.
- Drop off your unwanted Halloween candy and costumes for donation.
- There will be a Touch-a-Truck and a food truck.
Pre-registration for the Pumpkin Smash is encouraged, but onsite registration will be available. The event will be held rain or shine.
