Jet-Set Offset is a new way to put more wind energy in the New England grid by offsetting the environmental cost of plane flights. I used it to compensate for the several flights that I took this year. Participants select a donor partner—either Green Energy Consumers Alliance (GECA) or Mass Audubon.
As a GECA donor partner, your one cent per mile donation would be used to buy wind power renewable energy certificates (RECs). GECA’s REC purchases in the past 16 years have helped build 22 Massachusetts and Rhode Island wind turbines.
