Gas-powered leaf blowers are banned in the City of Newton between Memorial Day and Labor Day (Monday, September 5). Only one electric or battery-powered leaf blower per lot is allowed.
All commercial landscapers who use leaf blowers in Newton need to register with the Inspectional Services Department (ISD) before working on properties in the City. Please know that homeowners can be held responsible and fined if their landscaper is unregistered and violates the noise ordinance on their property.
The City has hired a seasonal inspector who will be proactively enforcing our new landscaper registration program in cooperation with the Police Department.
