Are you in the market for a deal on a full length mirror? A window air conditioner? Or perhaps you are trying to sell or give away the crib your child has outgrown? Try the free Nextdoor website and app before you go to buy new or trash that very usable item. You may be able to find used items in great condition at a deep discount or even for free, and you are supporting the reuse economy.
Nextdoor offers an easily navigated marketplace where registered users can buy and sell items in their local area. Sellers can list items with descriptions, categories, and photos. Buyers can communicate with sellers through secure messaging to ask questions and negotiate a purchase. It offers a very large and diverse range of items for sale or for free, and new items are added hourly.
You must sign up for Nextdoor and specify your ‘neighborhood’ in order to participate. This allows for each community member to be known by others and prevents negative anonymous postings. If you live in Newton, your community would be Nextdoor Newton. The website and app is also a forum for discussing local issues and sharing information (think plumber recommendations), making it useful for learning about what’s happening in your community and feeling more connected.
Sign up on the Nextdoor website or download the smartphone app in the App Store or Google Play and try it out.
