The ever popular Newton Swap Shop at the Newton Resource Recovery Center (115 Rumford Ave., Auburndale) is open and runs through October 26. Open 7:30am-1:30pm every Thursday-Saturday, you never know what new treasures you will discover–and all for free. There are children’s toys, games, kitchen supplies, clothing, and many more items.
You can also drop off clean, usable, working unwanted items for others to discover. All items must be approved by a volunteer before being dropped off. View the list of acceptable items (updated for the 2024 season).
The Swap Shop does not accept:
TVs or monitors
Large or stuffed furniture
Large appliances
Hazardous materials
Building materials
Child car/booster seats, cribs, strollers

The Swap Shop is run by volunteers. The Swap Shop may close if no volunteers are available. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact the DPW Sustainable Materials Management Division.
Open to Newton residents only – proof of residency required upon request.
