The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (CEC) has been offering financial incentives through their Whole-Home Heat Pump Pilot Program since May, 2019. This program offers funding to Massachusetts residents who install heat pump systems to replace gas heating for the entire residence.
The funding can be stacked on top of other programs such as MassSave rebates. The base incentive is $2500, plus additional incentives of up to $2500 are offered if other improvements are needed such as electrical upgrades, insulation, window replacements, heat pump water heaters, and air sealing. Up to $500 is allowed for a blower door test. Incentives are increased substantially for applicants who qualify as low or moderate income households.
The MassCEC recently announced that applications will close on June 25, 2021. If you are considering a heat pump system to replace gas heating for your entire home, this is a great opportunity to use this state funding to help offset the cost. Projects that are accepted have up to 6 months to complete the installation after the award is approved. Both existing and new construction/renovation projects are eligible.
