Each year, the City of Newton collects Christmas trees for recycling during the first two weeks of January. In 2021, Christmas tree collection will begin on January 4 and go through January 15.
Christmas tree collection occurs on your regular trash day. Place your undecorated Christmas tree out to the curb by 7am during this two week window.
Reminder: All decorations and lights must be removed and trees cannot be in a plastic bag.
One suggestion to prevent a mess as trees are moved to the curb is to wrap the tree in a bed sheet or tarp (the sheet or tarp must then be removed for pickup).
Christmas trees are taken to a commercial woodchipping facility to be turned into mulch.
