Join the City on Tuesday, October 23 from 6-8:30pm in the War Memorial Auditorium at Newton City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Ave, Newton) to learn more about City’s process for developing the Climate Action Plan and to share your ideas on how should we act to combat climate change. Light refreshments will be provided.

Please email climateplanning@newtonma.gov to RSVP for the Roundtable.

The City is undertaking is the creation of a Climate Action Plan (CAP), which will detail efforts the City can undertake to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by increasing energy efficiency and “greening” our power sources.

Through collaboration with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and a volunteer working group, we hope to develop a plan that thoroughly addresses the most effective mitigation efforts for the City to undertake.

Climate action is an urgent priority for Newton. We’re rightly proud of our groundbreaking work so far, but we can do even more. The City of Newton’s Climate Action Plan will chart our next bold steps, and it will include community priority actions.

Public input will be received throughout a lengthy community engagement process by means of an online questionnaire, workshops, and public hearings. All questionnaire responses are anonymous, however a new optional question has been added allowing individuals or organizations to self-identify and present ideas that are highly prioritized.
