On Thursday, June 7 at 7pm, join Newton’s Co-Director of Sustainability, Ann Berwick, to learn about Newton Power Choice. This event is being held at the home of Green Newton President, Marcia Cooper.  Join us to find out more about Newton Power Choice, a group electricity purchasing program called “municipal aggregation”. This is a unique opportunity for Newton residents and businesses to significantly increase the amount of New England-based renewable energy they use.

Massachusetts law requires that Eversource Basic Service customers be automatically enrolled in the aggregation program unless they have signed a contract with an electricity supplier. Residents and businesses may choose to “opt out” before being enrolled or at any time after enrollment with no fee or penalty. Other choices include “opt down” to receive no additional renewable energy electricity above the state law requirement or “opt up” to 100% renewable electricity.

Marcia Cooper will speak about the Newton Coalition for Climate Action (NCCA) support for a high percent of New England Class 1 renewable electricity for the standard option in the initial aggregation contract.

Space is limited, so please RSVP to marcia@greennewton.org if you would like to attend. Hope to see you then!
