Governor Baker’s MBTA Control Board recently presented two proposals, including one that would raise some T fares by over 10%. The administration also declared that passes were separate than fares and could be raised by any amount… at any time.
Here’s what you can do to pressure the Baker administration into scaling back these increases:
- Attend a public hearing at the Bigelow Middle School on February 4, 6-8PM: Anyone can go and voice their opinion.
- Submit public comment: The administration has also launched an online tool to submit comments. Click here to make your voice heard.
When fares increase, this hurts those who rely on the T the most: students, low-income workers, and the elderly. Plus, these types of big increases lead to fewer riders, more people driving, and more congestion and air pollution.
