Molly Schaeffer, Treasurer of Bike Newton, is distributing a petition that will soon be presented to the Mayor and City Councilors regarding ways to achieve safer mobility for bicyclists and pedestrians. More than 2,000 signatures have already been collected.
Not only are lives at stake when there are unsafe, poorly designed and poorly maintained bicycling and walking facilities, there are also major environmental reasons to implement policies to make bicycling and walking safer and more convenient and ultimately this will help us remove a significant number of cars from our local roads.
