The Swap Shop at the Newton Resource Recovery Center (115 Rumford Ave., Auburndale) is now open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 7:30am-1:30pm through October 30. City residents can drop off usable items, and take home other items for free. New items are added each week so check back often.
All items must be approved by a volunteer before being dropped off. Open to Newton residents only – proof of residency required upon request. View the Swap Shop guidelines for more information, including a complete listing of acceptable and unacceptable items. In general, the Swap Shop does not accept:
- TVs or monitors
- large or stuffed furniture
- large appliances
- hazardous materials
- building materials
Check out the Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in West Roxbury for donations of large furniture, appliances, and building materials.
The Swap Shop is run by volunteers and may close if no volunteers are available. We are always looking for more volunteers! For more information, contact the DPW Sustainable Materials Management Division.
