Newton Mothers Out Front members recently met with Mayor Ruthanne Fuller about MOF’s 2022 campaign, “Triage and Transition,” to reduce gas risk, pollution and waste and promote clean energy, efficiency and conservation.

They shared Newton’s updated Interactive Gas Leaks Map showing 649 unrepaired leaks. Mayor Fuller agreed to post the map on the City of Newton website. See the Map on the Climate and Sustainability page on the City of Newton website. Go to “Repairing Gas Leaks with Mothers Out Front Newton.”

The NMOF members also expressed concerns about the inaccessibility and poor condition of gas turnoff valve covers and the high number of high volume leaks (SEIs), as well as their interest in reducing gas pipeline replacements because of the excessive cost and failures of the Massachusetts Gas System Enhancement Program (GSEP).

Mayor Fuller has been a supporter of Mothers Out Front Newton since its earliest Gas Leaks Rallies and Tagging Events, and the chapter looks forward to her continuing involvement.
