Now in its fifth year, HeatSmart Newton continues to provide guidance to Newton residents about options for using clean efficient heat pump technology for heating, cooling and hot water. This City of Newton program and Green Newton initiative helps to educate residents about heat pumps and refers interested residents to a vetted partner installer. Hundreds of residents have installed heat pumps in their homes through this program.

Recently, our previous partner Muirfield Mechanical was acquired by Heritage Home Service. Heritage, in business for over 35 years with over 250 employees, will now be Newton’s preferred partner for heat pump installations. With in-house plumbers and electricians, the company can manage all aspects of installation for air source heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, as well as other plumbing and/or electrical needs in your home. They share a commitment towards the environment that aligns with the goals of the City of Newton and Green Newton.

Installation from Heritage Home Service offers unique advantages to HeatSmart Newton referred customers such as:

  • a group discount for referred customers (5% to 10%),
  • a choice of several equipment manufacturers at different price points,
  • an equipment sizing guarantee (Manual J or equivalent is performed),
  • a “no lemon” guarantee,
  • an “installation date” guarantee,
  • a money back guarantee,
  • an extended labor warranty up to 10 years with first year maintenance contract included,
  • filing for Mass Save rebates on the customer’s behalf and free financing of the rebate until received,
