Bright green Lime Bikes were officially deployed across Newton last week.
The dockless bike share program is part of a partnership with 15 other cities and towns across Metro Boston that allows riders to pick-up and drop-off bikes anywhere they can legally be parked in any participating community.
The Lime Bike app is easy to set up. It allows users to locate, unlock and ride the bikes. The first ride is free. Regular fees are $1 for every 30 min.
A second bikeshare company, Spin, will be adding bikes in August. Both companies will offer discounts to students, corporations, and low-income riders.
Riders are reminded not to block sidewalks, parking spaces, ramps or storefronts. And please, bring your bike helmet!
Business and property owners are allowed to manually move the bikes a few feet, as needed to straighten them out. If there are any problems, it is best to contact customer service at Lime: 888-546-3345 or support@limebike.com.
