With more electric vehicles (EV) on the market now than ever before, 2022 might be the year to make the switch to an electric car. EV purchases in Newton shot up to 17% in the latter part of 2021. With lower fuel and maintenance costs, federal tax credit of up to $7,500 for most electric cars, and an additional $2,500 in Massachusetts tax credit for EVs under $50,000, getting an electric car becomes even more appealing. Plus, it’s also one of the top things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint.
The Newton EV Task Force has put together an informative list of EVs available in 2022 along with their base prices and range that can help you narrow down the best choice for you. From the Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck, to the budget- and family-friendly Hyundai KONA Electric, to the luxury Lucid Air, there truly is something for everyone. Some other EVs that we’re particularly excited about are the new Toyota bZ4X electric SUV and Nissan Ariya SUV. Find discounts and tax credits available on the Green Energy Consumer Alliance Drive Green website.
