One of the highlights of the GreenEXPO is the EV Test Drive when visitors can go behind the wheels of an EV, take a drive around the block, and ask a dealer rep questions about the car–all without having to drive to a dealership. There is no obligation and all you need is your driver’s license. Just look for the EV Test Drive flags on Beacon Street at the Newton Center parking lot on Sunday, October 14 10am-4pm.
This year, we have 5 different models for you to try:
- Chevy Bolt EV
- BMW i3 EV
- Nissan Leaf EV
- Chevy Volt Plug-in Hybrid
- Cooper Mini Plug-in Hybrid
The EVs are 100% electric and the Plug-in Hybrids offer the flexibility of electric with a back up gasoline engine.
Information on Great Discounts on EVs
In addition to the dealer reps, Green Energy Consumers Alliance and Sierra Club Massachusetts will be on hand to offer more information on the benefits of owning an electric car and the great financial incentives available to buyers of certain vehicle models. The Nissan booth can tell you about their $5000 discount for the Leaf in cooperation with Eversource. In addition to these incentives, there may also be a federal tax credit of $7500 and a Massachusetts tax credit of $2500. These incentives can add up to a great discount. Just ask at the booths!
Firsthand EV Owner Experiences
Want to know what’s it’s like to live with an EV firsthand? EV owners will be available through the day by the Sierra Club booth to answer any questions you have on their experiences, good and bad.
