The Russian invasion of Ukraine and the world’s response highlight the instability of a world that remains dependent on fossil fuels. Europe gets most of its heating fuel from Russia and that makes Europe vulnerable to Russian political intimidation.
The knowledgeable and esteemed climate change fighter, Bill McKibbon has come up with an idea that seems to make a lot of sense. He wants President Biden to invoke the Defense Production Act (DPA) and ramp up electric heat pump production in America to export to Europe and reduce demand for natural gas, oil, and coal heating. Every heat pump that we help install in Europe will make our NATO allies more resilient and independent from the threat of natural gas being cut off by Russia. Please join Boston Climate Action Network (BCAN) in asking our Senators and Representatives to urge the President to use the DPA and make Europe cleaner and freer from Russia.
