Join Green Newton’s team of Event Day Volunteers to help make our community events a success! From setting up tables and greeting attendees to helping with activities or sharing information about sustainability, your time and enthusiasm help us reach more people.

1–3 hours at a single event. Sign up for one or more events throughout the year.

Join Green Newton’s Sustainable Street Tours or Sustainability Cafés to inspire your neighbors! By sharing your experiences with solar panels, heat pumps, EVs, composting, or native gardens, you help others see how achievable sustainable living can be.

A few hours for a single event — preparation help provided!

It’s an easy, rewarding way to spark change and build a stronger, greener neighborhood.

• Share your sustainability upgrades either at an event with your neighbors or at event at the library
• Talk casually with neighbors about what worked for you

Help document Green Newton’s events by taking photos that showcase the energy, creativity, and community spirit behind local climate action. Your images will help us tell our story, celebrate our volunteers, and inspire others to get involved.

1–2 hours per event, depending on event length. Attend one or more events throughout the year based on your availability. This is a great role for photographers who love capturing authentic community moments that help move Newton toward a cleaner, greener future.

• Photograph Green Newton events, speakers, and activities
• Capture candid shots of attendees and volunteers in action
• Select and share your best photos for use on our website, social media, and publications
• Coordinate with staff to ensure coverage of key moments

• Experience or strong interest in event or candid photography
• Access to a DSLR, mirrorless, or high-quality phone camera
• Ability to take clear, well-composed photos
• Friendly, approachable demeanor when interacting with participants
• Enthusiasm for sustainability and community storytelling

Become a Green Newton Neighborhood Ambassador and help spread the word about upcoming programs, events, and local climate initiatives. It’s an easy, personal way to make a difference right where you live.

1–2 hours as needed for specific campaigns or events. Flexible and simple — a perfect role for people who want to take small, meaningful actions that help grow Newton’s climate movement.

Join one of Green Newton’s event committees to help shape inspiring community events like Earth Day, GreenEXPO, or Sustainable Street Tours. You’ll collaborate with others to create memorable experiences that educate, engage, and celebrate sustainability in Newton.

Bi-weekly meetings leading up to your chosen event (varies by project).

• Create engaging posts and simple graphics in Canva
• Help plan Green Newton’s social media calendar
• Promote upcoming events and community stories
• Track engagement and suggest new ideas

• Active social media user (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
• Clear writer with a creative eye
• Interest in sustainability and climate action
• Experience with Canva or short videos a plus

Green Newton is looking for a creative volunteer to produce short, inspiring videos that showcase local clean energy stories, events, and sustainability successes.

About 5–8 hours per month, flexible schedule.

Use your video skills to help tell the stories that inspire action and make Newton’s sustainability efforts come alive!

• Capture video footage at Green Newton events
• Film short interviews with residents about their clean energy choices
• Edit engaging videos or social media reels
• Collaborate with the communications team to share your work

• Experience with video production and editing software
• Strong attention to detail and creative flair
• Passion for sustainability and community storytelling

Help Green Newton create clear, engaging visuals that inspire climate action. As a Graphic Design Volunteer, you’ll use your creativity to make sustainability messages stand out across print and digital platforms.

2–4 hours per week, flexible and remote. Work at your own pace while helping Green Newton reach more people through beautiful, effective design.

• Design simple, polished graphics for social media, newsletters, and flyers
• Create materials that help residents understand local sustainability programs
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure consistent branding
• Help brainstorm visual ideas for campaigns and events

• A creative thinker with basic graphic design skills
• Experience with Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools
• An understanding of clean, accessible visual communication
• Interest in sustainability and community engagement

3–6 hours per project, remote and flexible. Ideal for volunteers who enjoy writing and want to make a tangible difference through powerful communication.

2–4 hours per month, flexible schedule. This is a great role for someone who enjoys behind-the-scenes work that keeps a small, impactful nonprofit running strong.

• Assist with mailings, data entry, or recordkeeping

One monthly meeting plus a few hours between meetings — flexible and collaborative.
