You’ve probably noticed your electric bills rising over the years. As we move to an electric energy system powered by renewable electricity, higher rates are a financial burden and a barrier to transitioning from fossil fuels to clean energy.
In Massachusetts, 3 percent of people spend over 6 percent of their income on home energy. Among low-income populations, that jumps to about 10 percent of people. The state is working to address the problem of high bills by reforming how our rates are structured.
