Starting November 1, Judy Lehrer Jacobs will be joining us as Green Newton’s first-ever Executive Director.

Judy comes to us with a wealth of experience, and a true passion for the environment. She understands the urgency of the climate emergency, and the importance of Green Newton’s role in combating it. She has been fighting to protect our natural environment for over twenty-five years, most recently as Executive Director of Friends of the Blue Hills, from 2004-2023. Prior to that, she acted as an environmental policy researcher and community organizer for various state and non-profit organizations. Judy received a Master’s Degree in Environmental Policy at the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and a Bachelor’s from the University of Chicago.

Judy conveyed her enthusiasm to take on the role, “I am thrilled to join an organization that has such a strong track record of working with the city and community to fight climate change at the local level. I look forward to building on Green Newton’s successes to date, to create a more sustainable future for all Newton residents.”

Green Newton President Marcia Cooper says she is “very impressed by Judy’s many qualifications, background experience, and eagerness to dive right in as our new Executive Director to help make Green Newton’s initiatives and advocacy all the more impactful.”

We hope you will join us to meet and welcome Judy into the Green Newton family at our upcoming ⚡️Energized for Action Celebration, at Lasell University on Saturday, November 4 at 6:30pm. Learn more and order your tickets today at GreenNewton.org/Celebration
