The Village Bank and the City of Newton are trying to give away microgrant money!
The microgrant program supports local projects designed to address climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and still has funds available. The Village Bank and the City are each contributing $2,500 to the program this year, as they have done in past years. Grants of $250 to $1,000 are available. The program encourages anyone or any organization with a good proposal to apply. Proposals need not come only from established organizations.
Here are just a few examples of the many projects the program has already funded:
- Compost containers at the Underwood School
- Climate awareness display at Newton South High School
- Garden cart for the Newton Community Farm
- A “table top” model “green” house
Interested applicants can review the initial announcement of the program and the application form, also available on the City and The Village Bank’s websites.
