Saturday, December 10 from 12-1:30pm. Gather at Dewey Square in Boston (across from South Station).
Join Mothers Out Front and 350 MA at a rally in front of the Department of Public Utilities—saying NO to fossil fuels and rate hikes and YES to a swift and just transition to renewable energy.
The rally is to protest the actions of the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU). The DPU regulates the private utilities in MA, such as Eversource and National Grid. It is managed by 3 Commissioners appointed by the Governor. This DPU has protected the gas industry and slow-walked renewable power.
When Governor Baker steps down in January, Governor Healey will appoint two of the 3 commissioners, and the rally is also to send a message to Governor- Elect Maura Healey: Please appoint DPU Commissioners that put the public and climate first, not the utilities’ interest.
Rally goers will carry 40 large wind turbines around the South Station intersection which has large crosswalks and wide sidewalks. People coming to the event are encouraged to bring signs. Our goal is to create a continuous presence around the entire, heavily used area.
