Here are some tips:
Tip #1
Download Green Newton’s Green Pages, a directory of member-recommended Clean Energy providers, including Solar. All providers are local.
Tip #2
Check out EnergySage, a marketplace where local, vetted installation companies can bid for your project, allowing you to compare multiple quotes at once.
Tip #3
Find out which solar companies are prominent in your neighborhood and their average cost per watt installed. Click on MassCEC’s residential solar cost and performance page and select Middlesex County or search your zip code.
Tip #4
Ask friends and neighbors for recommendations, as firsthand experiences can reveal the installer’s reliability, workmanship quality, and customer service before you commit
Tip #5
Search local Facebook groups and NextDoor, and check reviews on EnergySage, Google, Yelp, and Houzz.
Tip #6
Ensure installers come to your home to survey conditions on the ground (e.g. roof quality, electrical panels, amount of shade on site, etc.) in order to get the most accurate quote.
Tip #7
Seek at least 3 quotes from various solar installation companies.
