The City of Newton is looking to hire five Community Liaisons to work as part of the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program’s Core Team over the next two years. Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program 2.0 is a State-funded initiative to help increase connections between City Hall and residents, develop climate resilience priorities for the City, and implement a Seed Project to help prepare for the impacts of climate change.
This position will involve approximately 1-5 hours of paid work per week. Community Liaisons are people who live in and/or are well-connected to Newton, but who may not have engaged a lot with the City previously. They will help lead conversations on community needs, support outreach to their friends and neighbors, and help implement a community informed climate project. Community Liaisons do not need a knowledge base in climate matters; they just need to be enthusiastic and have an interest in community engagement.
