Are you a college or graduate student — or a recent graduate — looking for hands-on experience with a small, local nonprofit focused on environmental action this fall semester? Green Newton is seeking an intern to join our team for up to 16 hours per week at $18/hour. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in research, communications, event coordination, and community engagement — all while helping advance Newton’s Climate Action Plan. If you’re passionate about climate, energy conservation, and making a tangible impact in your community, we’d love to hear from you!
This internship is made possible through the generous support of MassCEC.
As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to:
  • Research and record data for local campaigns that support Newton’s Climate Action Plan
  • Help to coordinate educational events and webinar programs with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Research and draft articles on environmental topics for our e-newsletter/website
  • Produce presentation slides to promote environmental campaigns
  • Interview local people to record how they feel about climate change and how they see their role in making a difference.
  • Attend virtual meetings with Green Newton leaders, City officials and partner groups
  • Become adept at communicating with others on topics such as energy saving initiatives and environmental justice
  • Support our social media outreach and public art projects for energy conservation
  • Work on a team project to record information at locations where there are markings indicating gas leaks in local infrastructure and record the data
  • Assist on administrative assignments and mailing to our membership

This internship offers practical experience, skill-building, and the chance to make a tangible impact in Newton’s environmental initiatives.
