In last week’s Tip of the Week, we erroneously reported, “Clear plastic lids from clear cups can be placed back on the cup (but no straws) and placed in the trash.” Clear cups and affixed clear lids should be placed in the recycling cart. We apologize for the mistake. Below is the corrected post.
Paper cups are now officially recyclable in Massachusetts. This includes paper coffee cups, dixie cups, and the paper cups used for fountain drinks.
- Empty food and/or liquid.
- Plastic lids from paper coffee cups should be placed in the trash.
- Clear plastic lids from clear cups can be placed back on the cup (but no straws) and placed in the curbside recycling cart.
- Place in curbside green recycling cart.
Remember, the best option is to use reusable cups. Bring your own or ask for a ceramic cup to drink inside.
