Tip of the Week: Recycling Textiles are Easier Than Ever with Collection Bins at School Locations

Massachusetts will ban the disposal of textiles in the trash beginning November 1, 2022. The City of Newton is well prepared for the start of the ban with a number of textile collection options around the city:

  • NEW – Blue collection bins are in place at 12 schools with more in the works: Bowen, Mason-Rice, Ward, Horace Mann, Countryside, Burr, Franklin, Memorial Spaulding, Lincoln Eliot, Brown, Bigelow, and Newton South.
  • Convenient curbside collection is available through Helpsy, a b-corporation that is  working with the City. Schedule a pickup on their website and place the items in plastic bags in a visible locations.
  • Collection bins are available at the Newton Resource Recovery Center during open hours.
