Massachusetts will ban the disposal of textiles in the trash beginning November 1, 2022. The City of Newton is well prepared for the start of the ban with a number of textile collection options around the city:
- NEW – Blue collection bins are in place at 12 schools with more in the works: Bowen, Mason-Rice, Ward, Horace Mann, Countryside, Burr, Franklin, Memorial Spaulding, Lincoln Eliot, Brown, Bigelow, and Newton South.
- Convenient curbside collection is available through Helpsy, a b-corporation that is working with the City. Schedule a pickup on their website and place the items in plastic bags in a visible locations.
- Collection bins are available at the Newton Resource Recovery Center during open hours.
