Tip of the Week: Recycle, Compost, and Donate at the Rumford Resource Recovery Center

The City of Newton Resource Recovery Center 115 Rumford Avenue accepts more than 25 categories of items. Here are some of the most popular items that are accepted all year round:

  • Cardboard, Styrofoam
  • Textiles (clothing, shoes, linens)
  • Food scraps (also called compost)
  • Batteries, electronics
  • Scrap metal, metal appliances

Note: RRC DOES NOT ACCEPT TRASH or PLASTIC BAGS.

Clean plastic bags/wrap/air pillows should go in the trash OR click here to find out how to recycle them at a retailer or grocery store.
