City of Newton Swap Shop is Open and Filled with Great Free Items for Residents

Newton’s Resource Recovery Center Swap Shop (115 Rumford Ave., Auburndale) is now open Fridays and Saturdays, 7:30am-1:30pm. City residents continue to be generous by dropping off quantities of wonderful, usable items. Come and check it out, and take home items for FREE! New items are added each week, so check back often. See details.

For residents dropping off items in good condition, all items must be approved by a volunteer before being dropped off. The Swap Shop is open to Newton residents only – proof of residency is required upon request. View the Swap Shop guidelines.

The Swap Shop does not accept:

  • TVs or monitors
  • Large or stuffed furniture
  • Large appliances
  • Hazardous materials
  • Building materials
  • Car Seats

More volunteers are needed! It’s fun and a nice group of folks. Come by during Swap Shop hours and chat with us about volunteering or email recycling@newtonma.gov.

For donations and purchase of gently used large furniture, appliances, and building materials, check out the Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in West Roxbury.
