Looking to try something new in your garden this year, but need ideas? Or maybe you have extra seeds you don’t want to plant, but don’t want to toss. Either way, the seed swap at Newton’s Earth Day Festival brings people together to share what they have and discover something new.
This is your chance to pick up new varieties, share what you already have, and connect with other people in the community who love to grow things—whether that’s vegetables, herbs, or flowers.
🌼 How It Works
We’re keeping things simple and community-driven:
- Take a packet, leave a packet until 3:00 PM
- After 3:00 PM, all remaining seeds are free for everyone—no trade needed!
It’s a great way to diversify your garden, try new varieties, and share the abundance.
🌿 What to Bring
If you’d like to participate in the swap, bring along:
- Commercially grown seeds (opened or unopened are both welcome)
- Seeds that are preferably less than 3 years old
These guidelines help keep everyone’s gardens healthy, minimize the risk of plant disease, and give you the best chance of success when you plant.
🌎 Why It’s Worth Stopping By
You don’t need to be an experienced gardener to take part. This is an easy, low-pressure way to:
- Try growing something new
- Save money on seeds
- Share with others in your community
- Take part in a simple, sustainable exchange
You might come for seeds—but you’ll likely leave with a few ideas and conversations, too.
Come by, dig in, and grow with us at Newton’s Earth Day Festival. You never know what you’ll find—or what you’ll inspire.
