Green Newton’s Saving Energy Team (SET)

This passionate group of Newton high school students understands that improving the energy efficiency of homes in Newton is a crucial step in stopping climate change. Working with Green Newton, they are encouraging homeowners to do their part by getting energy assessments, a first step in making their homes energy efficient.

To learn more about assessments, students attended an energy assessment in person at the home of Green Newton board member Garry Miller, giving them a chance to learn from the energy expert.  After the assessment was completed, the contractor returned a few weeks later to add insulation, seal air leaks and add weather stripping. An air pressure test was performed before and after the work was doneMiller reported, “The second pressure test came back 1000 cfm* lower than the first, which is the equivalent of closing four open windows! And thanks to Mass Save, my out of pocket cost was just $400.

Please visit  our Mass Save Community First Partnership page soon to schedule your assessment
