2000+ Strong: An Earth Day to Remember

Yesterday’s Earth Day Festival was a tremendous success, bringing together our community for a joyful day of sustainability, creativity, and connection. With more than 40 vendors—from clean energy companies and local nonprofits to craftspeople offering locally grown flowers, jewelry, and homemade chocolates—there was truly something for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Families especially loved the interactive elements of the day. The goats and chickens were a hit with visitors of all ages, while kids stayed busy with hands-on activities like drawing at the Verse & Vision Gallery and participating in the Lego Challenge.

On stage, the talent of Newton’s youth was on full display. Performances by All Newton Music School and The Newtones, the award-winning a cappella group from Newton South High School, were true highlights of the day and drew enthusiastic crowds.

We were thrilled to welcome more than 2,000 attendees, including Mayor Marc Laredo, Representative Amy Sangiolo, Representative Greg Schwartz, and many members of the City Council. Their presence reflected the strong community commitment to sustainability and climate action.

The spirit of sharing and reuse was alive throughout the festival, with many attendees bringing seeds to swap and clothing to donate and thrift at our Conscious Closet and Replay Corner—small actions that collectively make a big impact.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported our vendors, and helped make this event such a meaningful celebration of Earth Day in Newton. We’re already looking forward to next year!
