Newton Celebrates a New Community Garden in Nonantum

On June 17 after four years of planning and construction, the Tasun Community Garden at Spears Park in Nonantum officially opened for planting. Spears Park is a small quarter acre green space located along Washington Street at Walnut Park, near the Jackson School. Councilor Maria Scibelli Greenberg from Ward 1 was key in helping to make this project a reality, with strong support from the City. The area includes 29 garden beds with tool storage, compost tumbler, and water access. This community garden in Nonantum  helps balance availability across the city. The other garden is in Nahanton Park which sits in the southwest corner of Newton.
