We’ve known for some time that electrifying our homes with technologies like heat pumps is one of the most effective ways to cut our reliance on gas and oil… but only a fraction of homeowners have done this. So… how ready is Newton to make this move?
More specifically:
- How many homes have electrified?
- What do the utilities say it will cost to electrify typical homes, and what does it actually cost?
- And what barriers to electrifying do residents feel stand in the way?
The Newton Electrification Readiness Survey set out to answer all these questions. Drawing on responses from more than 200 Newton residents, it establishes electric equipment adoption rates, documents current costs from actual projects, prioritizes barriers, and proposes actions that can help Newton accelerate its electrification.
Join us to hear the results and learn what they could mean for a more sustainable Newton.
