The State Legislature passed a bill to ban harmful flame retardants. Let’s make sure Governor Baker signs it into law!
On New Year’s Day, the state legislature passed a bill banning 11 toxic flame retardants in children’s products, household furniture, and bedding. These dangerous chemicals are not necessary to protect children and families and have been linked to cancer, nervous system damage, fertility problems, and more health issues. Children and firefighters are particularly at risk.
Governor Baker has until January 11 to sign this bill into law. Outlawing these toxic flame retardants in everyday products is long overdue. Urge him to protect Massachusetts children, firefighters, and families by signing H.5024.
