Tip of the Week: Spring Cleaning? Here’s Where to Bring Old Clothes

Clothing should never go in your recycling green cart!  All types of textiles, including shoes, belts and stuffed animals, can be donated to various charities at the Resource Recovery Center (Located at 115 Rumford Ave, Auburndale – driving directions), which is open Monday-Saturday from 7:15am-2:30pm. More information is available on the Recovery Center’s website.

The Resource Recovery Center is open to Newton residents only, and no commercial materials or commercial vehicles are permitted. Residents are allowed access to the Goodwill and Cradle to Crayons donation areas. Check the Cradles to Crayons website for accepted materials. Socks, underwear, and pajamas are only accepted in new condition.

Some other local options include:

  • Finer Consigner (53 Langley Rd, Newton) – Consignment shop with high-end, secondhand women’s clothing, designer shoes, handbags & accessories.
  • Kiki D. Design & Consign (214 Sumner St, Newton) – Consignment shop offering designer womenswear, plus a jewelry line inspired by the Victorian era.
