Loofah is the fruit of a vine that can be dried and used as scrubbing sponges. You may have seen them sold as bath sponges, but do you know they are also great for the kitchen? You can find unbleached ones online that are precut to a convenient size for washing dishes, or purchase larger pieces and cut them to suit your needs. Just like regular sponges, let them air dry after using to keep bacteria from growing. But unlike regular (petroleum based) sponges, you can toss them into the compost bin when they wear out. Zero waste!
