The “Envi Sci” program is a unique educational outdoor program in Newton for around 35 teenagers that combines exploring the wilderness with learning about the science of the environment.  The month-long experience is geared for students going into grades 7-10 in September 2016.

Program highlights include hikes in the Blue Hills of Massachusetts and Mount Monadonock in New Hampshire, bicycle trips, a canoe trip on the Charles River, and an expedition through the salt marshes of the North shore. The program also features an exhilarating three-day backpacking trip up the highest peak in the Northeast, Mount Washington.

There are fun science workshops covering topics such as geology, botany, ecology, water cycle, pollution issues, and conservation. And there is an environmental service project in which participants get hands-on involvement with improving an environmental site. For more info visit http://www.newtonenvisci.org or contact David S.
