Community-oriented stores in Newton help residents save energy by offering home energy information tables. These stores have played a critical role in helping Newton residents achieve an exciting energy efficiency milestone: in June, Newton residents will compete their 2,500th Mass Save home energy assessment working with Green Newton partner, Next Step Living.

Newton residents arrange home energy assessments by scheduling them on-line, by phone, and by speaking with canvassers, but mostly they schedule them at an information table. Green Newton and Next Step Living have always made information tables a part of their community outreach, and the generosity of Newton stores in offering space for the tables has been critical in reaching residents.

These Newton stores have made space available, some of them on many occasions, for a home energy information table in their store. The next time you are in one of these stores, please thank them for their help in supporting the work of Green Newton and helping to reduce Newton’s carbon footprint:

  • Blackers Bakeshop
  • Cabots Ice Cream
  • Eastern Bank
  • Fresh City
  • L’Aroma Cafe
  • National Lumber
  • Schwarz Hardware
  • Shaws Newtonville
  • Star Market Auburndale
  • Sweetgreens
  • Waban Market
  • West Suburban YMCA
  • Whole Foods

Working together with the stores in our community has been an important part of our outreach success, and we are actively seeking opportunities to expand this critical part of our program. If you know a store that would welcome a home energy information table please let us know, by sending email to info@greennewton.org and include “information table” in the subject.
