High school students in the Waltham YMCA Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (YEEP) and the Waltham based community group, Meadowscaping for Biodiversity, are offering native drought tolerant plants for sale.
Purchased through the Garden in the Woods, the plants are on display at the Episcopal Church 750 Main St. in Waltham (across from the library) , where they have built a meadow garden. The plants are available to show by appointment or buyers could visit during one of our sale on Tuesday, July 25 from 4-7 pm.
Please see the catalog at www.meadomaking.org and wwww.meadowmaking.org/YEEP.html
In this program high school students are taught about ecosystems gardening and business, so that the students can create a summer job where they sell and install native plants, and thus do something positive for the Earth and themselves. In addition to selling and installing native plants, the students in the program are building a demonstration meadow at Stonehurst, the historic Paine Estate, in Waltham.
