Join the Newton Community Farm for an interactive workshop with Willie Crosby on Thursday, June 9 from 6-8pm. Willie, who has been teaching and growing mushrooms with Fungi Ally in Montague, MA since 2013, will be sharing his extensive mycological knowledge, and each participant will leave with an inoculated log ready to sprout some oyster mushrooms to enjoy at home. The workshop will be held in person at the Farm (303 Nahanton St., Newton), and all supplies will be provided. Mycology novices and those looking for a deeper understanding of fungi will both benefit from Willie’s broad knowledge base. Register by Sunday June 5 at 8pm. The cost is $50 per person.

Willie Crosby is the owner of Fungi Ally, a mushroom company located in Montague MA, and was cultivating 400 pounds of mushrooms each week. Now Fungi Ally focuses on other mushroom related ventures: research, education, and spawn production. Over his career, Willie has received 6 research and education grants to further his own expertise and to educate the public on mushrooms. Willie aims to open doors for all interested in this rewarding craft.
