Join a Heat Island Safari on July 5 and See What a Difference Trees Make

Saturday, July 5, 1pm. Front Steps of Newton City Hall (1000 Commonwealth Ave., Newton).

Learn how trees keep us cool. We’ll use infrared thermometers to measure the temperature of different surfaces in the sun and in the shade. We’ll see and feel how the sun heats up streets, sidewalks, driveways, and playgrounds compared to shady, tree-covered areas.
