Join Green Newton on Monday, May 21 at 7pm in the Druker Auditorium of the Newton Free Library (330 Homer St., Newton) for the ‘2018 Green Submarine Tour de Newton! & Leadership Awards’.
Produced and hosted by Students for a Greener World (SGW), students from Newton schools come together to show how they’re helping the environment through projects such as:
- Peirce Elementary’s Outdoor Classroom/Garden;
- Underwood Elementary’s Recycling & Composting Green Machine;
- Newton South’s Marine Biology Shark Team;
- Newton North’s Nicaragua Ecology Trip;
- SGW’s community outreach.
SGW will also present the 2018 Wild Boar Awards, which will be followed by a presentation of the Green Newton’s 2018 Environmental Leadership Awards to an individual, a local organization, and a Newton business. Waneta Trabert, Newton’s Director of Environmental Affairs, will receive Green Newton’s Award to an individual. Mothers Out Front Newton will receive our award to a community group, and Byggmeister Design Build will receive our award to a local business. We hope you will join us to honor the outstanding work by our awardees to increase the environmental sustainability of our community.
