On March 28, 2024, Boston Globe’s Sabrina Shankman and WBUR’s Miriam Wasser, published the article,”These energy suppliers say they can save you money. Regulators say it’s a scam – The fight over the future of third-party electric suppliers in Massachusetts” in the Boston Globe (in collaboration with WBUR.)
The article stemmed from hundreds of complaints received by the Globe and WBUR as part of a public records request to the state. Typically, a person discovers their electric bills have rocketed, and upon investigation, they are surprised to find they are being billed by a third-party provider they’ve never heard of. Choose the City of Newton’s Own Newton Power Choice Electrical Supply Program
The City of Newton is its own energy provider and supplies residents with a three-year negotiated rate that prioritizes renewable energy.
