DESCRIPTION:Join Green Newton and the Newton Parks\, Recreation & Culture Department for a creative afternoon of sustainability and fun! \nFamilies will transform everyday materials into one-of-a-kind costumes\, hats\, instruments\, and parade creations using recycled items from home and materials we’ll provide. \nPlease bring a clean toilet paper roll or small cardboard box\, along with any other clean recyclables you’d like to use\, such as newspaper\, paper grocery bags\, cereal boxes\, tissue boxes\, paper towel rolls\, plastic containers\, bottle caps\, or magazines. \nOnce our creations are complete\, we’ll learn a song and march through the park in a colorful Sustainability Parade featuring recycled fashions\, homemade instruments\, and plenty of community spirit. A snack will be provided. \nCome discover how creativity and reuse can give new life to everyday materials! \nItems we suggest you bring: \nCostume Materials \n\nNewspaper\nPaper grocery bags\nCereal boxes\nTissue boxes\nEgg cartons\nCardboard packaging inserts\nClean plastic containers (yogurt tubs\, takeout containers\, etc.)\nBottle caps\nOld magazines\nScrap paper\nCardboard drink carriers\n\nGreat Instrument Materials \n\nPlastic bottles\nSmall cardboard boxes\nToilet paper rolls\nPaper towel rolls\nYogurt containers\nBottle caps\nClean metal lids\nEmpty oatmeal containers\nEmpty coffee cans (with smooth edges)\n\nPlease bring only clean materials. DESCRIPTION:The Cooper Center for Active Living\n345 Walnut St.\, Newton\nActivity Room 1 \nJoin us for a free\, welcoming community event created to support you with your home energy needs. If you have questions about your energy bills\, heating costs\, or available assistance programs\, this event offers a chance to get clear\, one-on-one help in a friendly setting. \nYou can bring your energy bill for a review\, get help signing up for fuel assistance programs\, and learn about home energy assessments that may help improve comfort and reduce costs. Community experts will also be available to answer questions about heating and cooling options\, including heat pumps\, and to share easy-to-understand information about electrification. \nNo technical knowledge is needed\, and there is no pressure to sign up for anything. This event happens every third Tuesday of the month between 11am to 1pm starting June 16th. To make an appointment call 617-796-1660. Sign in at the kiosk when you arrive and meet us at Activity Room 1 to get personalized guidance\, ask questions\, and connect with trusted local resources. This event is hosted by the City of Newton Climate & Sustainability Team\, Green Newton\, and the Cooper Center for Active Living in partnership to support local residents.
